Web Server and Host Compatibility:
EmailMover
is
designed to run on servers running MS Windows Server operating
systems including NT4, 2000, 2003 and XP.
Most shared servers running these operating systems already include
everything that's needed. The newer and less popular .NET framework is NOT required.
EmailMover will NOT run on Unix or Linux servers.
EmailMover does not use any custom components or DLL's. For Emailing,
the following components are supported... CDONTS and CDOSYS,
AspMail,
AspEmail,
JMail,
w3JMail4 or
SASmtpMail.
The vast majority of Windows based hosts will have at least one of these
components installed on their servers.
If you have any doubts about server compatibility,
or to just make sure there are no server issues... we suggest you take advantage of our easy to use
Server Test
File, which you can download, then upload to your server and view in your browser. It tests several aspects of your server setup,
to ensure EmailMover will run properly.
You must also have an SMTP server address to send mail through. Most
hosting plans give you this as a part of their hosting package. Some
of the very low-cost or free hosting plans may not provide an SMTP host
for you to use. Check with your hosting plan technical administrator to make sure.
EmailMover is easy to install.
Complete installation instructions
are included. The special EmailMover global.asa file is edited, the
system files and database are then uploaded to your web server.
The main administrative page will then automatically guide you through the
remaining installation
steps and assign initial values to most, if not
all of the system parameters. A built-in Online Help system is also
available.
How it Works:
EmailMover uses an asp file triggered by visitors to your site to periodically send out Emails. This special ASP file
contains code which allows EmailMover to determine if mail needs to be sent. Several ASP files are used to handle the creation, management
and use of data-driven email templates, in the form of header, footer, and message template email sections, and subscribe and unsubscribe screen
templates.
Administration Browser Compatibility:
The
EmailMover
Admin panel uses an inline HTML editor which requires an IE5.5+ browser to
properly access all the features of the program. It is
designed to look its best when your system is set up to use a 1024 x 768
pixel screen size. Screens set up for less than 800 x 600
pixels will work, but are not recommended.
Database Information:
EmailMover uses an
Access 2002 database.
